We welcome back Amy West who has her practice in Spring Lake called CUP Health where she focuses on couples and relationships and how to best manage them as time goes by.  Her work is centered on people actively seeking to engage and grow and while it’s not a necessity for everyone, no one is an expert at all aspects of a relationship and how that can change as we grow older.

What’s wrong with me?  We ask ourselves that a lot.  Amy explains that nothing is wrong with you.  Relationships….they are hard and they get harder too as time goes by.  Learning how to adapt is a skill, but subconsciously, there’s a secret that Amy reveals this week that helps you understand something between you and your partner.  You have the skills you learned as you grew up in your family of origin, but you are creating a new family and the circumstances have changed.  The same goes for your partner.  It’s a mix of two differing backgrounds, which might feel like a sticking point until you learn how to effectively blend what’s known to make the circumstances for for what you are building.  There’s no shame in the idea of needing a GPS from time to time when it comes to the directions in a car…why would it be any different when it comes to navigating the most precious investment you make in a lifetime?  Your relationship with your partner.
