Here we are on week 8 of Mindful Movements Yoga with Swenja Tanner. It’s an amazing way to launch a Saturday (or any other day for that matter) by getting yourself in a peaceful mindset, moving your body some and the best part is, that if your new to this….it’s in the privacy of your own home, so, you can get yourself familiar with what you’re doing and then go for more when you see the benefits.
This week you are on your feet and going to be working your entire body with a focus on your midsection, arms and your back. It’s the most essential part of your entire body you know. Your strength, balance and a good portion of your endurance all comes from your midsection. While there’s always a need to strengthen and tone those areas, there’s also a need to move them in ways that are “different”. Think about all that goes on in your midsection? From the digestive process to breathing and eventually, your elimination of waste….moving your “guts” is an important part of your overall health and wellness and Swenja is going to walk you through the steps this week and help ya feel gooood.
Remember, with any physical activity, it’s important to know your limits. Swenja is a long time practitioner of yoga. If you are new to the experience, take your time to get into the motions and don’t over do it. Injuring yourself is the fastest way to ruin an amazing experience that will only enrich your life for years to come. Keep in mind too as your progression continues, that adding a healthy eating habit will add a lot to you’re program as will upping your physical fitness in other ways. On the Muskegon Channel, we have a weekly feature called Fit and Healthy With Becky and you’ll find a great new weekly work out there.
Swenja doesn’t have any current adventures booked, but…..stay tuned. She’s very active in the idea that the yoga experience in a destination setting is an amazing way to enhance the practice. Not only that, but you also get to be a part of the group who enjoys the activity and can share more. It’s a great way to meet people and be a part of something bigger. Stay tuned to find out where she’s taking you next!
