Breathe in and be ready for your Saturday morning Zen. Swenja Tanner joins us from Pere Marquette again to soak up those last few rays of summer sun and this week, she’s working your gut, hips and lower extremities. We should warn you…. there’s potential danger here in that idea that depending on your diet…..some of these moves could cause a “toot”. 🙂 That’s a good thing.
Sure, this is about the motion of the lower body and your midsection, but if you stop and think of the side benefits to what is being done here, it goes way past stretching out your legs and hips, there’s a lot of benefits this week you may not think about. Most of us have a diet that barely makes the grade and then if you add in stress, medications and other things that make life’s gears turn today, our guts don’t always work so well. Moving that tummy, intestines and all that other kind of digestive stuff around is really beneficial when it comes to removing toxins from your body. In plain English, the practice of yoga, a proper diet and exercise and proper food choices, and chances are, you’ll poop better and feel better. It’s not rocket science, keep in mind, the practice of yoga came along thousands of years before rockets.
Swenja would love to come to your home and work with a family or small group in to help teach yoga! Imagine that? Just you and those you are close to and comfortable with. No judging eyes. No membership to join. Just a relaxed and casual setting of learning and growing. She’s also got programs designed for kids. What a great way to help teach lifestyles at an early age that will help with balance when it comes to all that life throws at us from time to time. CLICK HERE to email Swenja about your group and build a schedule for when you’d like to meet up in private.
Remember, with any physical activity, it’s important to know your limits. Swenja is a long time practitioner of yoga. If you are new to the experience, take your time to get into the motions and don’t over do it. Injuring yourself is the fastest way to ruin an amazing experience that will only enrich your life for years to come. Keep in mind too as your progression continues, that adding a healthy eating habit will add a lot to you’re program as will upping your physical fitness in other ways. On the Muskegon Channel, we have a weekly feature called Fit and Healthy With Becky and you’ll find a great new weekly work out there.
