It was a holiday weekend off and we hope that Memorial Day was filled with remembrance and friends and family.  Swenja is back lakeside this week with Episode 17 of Mindful Movements Yoga and, this is the first week that you’ll be able to register to join her in the tranquil settings that she films in!!

Beginning low and stretching out you back and legs is where it’s beginning this week and Swenja is going to work her way all the way up to the tips of your fingers reaching for the sky after a week off to get you back on track.  She’s also going to be adding in some more explanation over this week and the next few as to the benefits of the movements and disciplines.  Yoga and the benefits that come from it are one of the things in life that you get out what you put in.  This isn’t necessarily the idea of “sweat it to get it” though.  It’s balance of mind, body and breathing.  It’s a chance to relax and look inward as much as it is a physical endeavor, so take the idea of growth or distance out, and go for depth and purpose.  You’ll be on the right track.

Remember, with any physical activity, it’s important to know your limits.  Swenja is a long time practitioner of yoga.  If you are new to the experience, take your time to get into the motions and don’t over do it.  Injuring yourself is the fastest way to ruin an amazing experience that will only enrich your life for years to come.  Keep in mind too as your progression continues, that adding a healthy eating habit will add a lot to you’re program as will upping your physical fitness in other ways.  On the Muskegon Channel, we have a weekly feature called Fit and Healthy With Becky and you’ll find a great new weekly work out there.
